Apartment, Part II | ||||||
Well, in My Apartment, Part I I described how a March 2006 morning was different when a windstorm below over two Douglas Fir trees into the carport where I park my van. And so nearly a year later, the management of the complex finally got the permits approved to build the new carport, as near as possible as the original 1968 one, when the complex was built. As you can see in the series of photos it starts out blank with everything removed and dug up to build the new one. The first one is dated January 20th and the last one February 16th, so you can see the time it takes for various construction companies to do their work. Few companies do all the work anymore, only general contractors who use subcontractors to do the actual work. So for the time it's been weeks of different trucks and workers. In the last phot you can see the new roof being added, so they still need to wire the electricity for the lights, paint it, and then assign the spaces again. I'll add those photos in My Apartment, Part III when that work is done. So, in the end it will be good as new, a 2007 version of a 1968 carport. Such is life in the Pacific Northwest. | ||||||
